Comparison is a sneaky thief—especially for us as Christians. It’s one of the devil's most effective tools, designed to distract us from our lives, our walk with God, and the beautiful things God is doing in us and through us.
Think about it. Maybe you’ve been praying and trusting God for something specific—let’s say a raise or a better job. It feels like it’s taking forever, and just as you start to grow weary, the enemy slips in, whispering lies and showing you people around you who seem to have it all—better jobs, bigger paychecks, more success.
If you’re not careful, you’ll fall into the trap of comparison. Suddenly, you’re not just noticing their blessings; you’re measuring your life against theirs. You start comparing jobs, lifestyles, even testimonies. And just like that, you lose sight of everything you already have—the job you once prayed for, the car you drive, the roof over your head, good health, supportive friends, and countless other blessings.
Comparison blinds us to our own blessings. It makes us bitter, steals our joy, and distances us from gratitude. It’s a slippery slope that leads to resentment and doubt.
So today, I want to encourage us: Don’t compare. Be grateful. Whatever you’re waiting on God for, trust His timing. Just because it hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean it won’t. Hold on to His promises and remember that He makes all things beautiful in His time.
This year, let’s stay grateful, trust God’s timing, and refuse to compare our journeys with anyone else’s. Because God’s plans for us are good, and they will unfold perfectly at the right time.
Let’s focus on our walk with God, celebrate others genuinely, and keep our eyes on our own paths. After all, comparison is the thief of joy—and we’re not letting it steal ours.
