Living Intentionally: Letting God Lead My Goals This Year

Published on 11 January 2025 at 23:36

One of my personal aspirations for this year is to be intentional—intentional about everything that concerns me. That means being more thoughtful, more prayerful, and more purposeful in how I approach the things that matter most in my life.

When it came to goal-setting this year, I decided to take a different route. In the past, I’d carefully write down exactly what I wanted to achieve in areas like my career, health, family, finances, and relationships. While there’s nothing wrong with that approach, I realized it often felt like I was writing a script and asking God to endorse it, rather than truly seeking His guidance.

So, this year, I tried something new. I wrote down the key areas of my life where I want to see growth and change—but I left the details blank. Yes, blank! Instead of filling those spaces with my plans, I decided to pray over each area and ask God to reveal His will and purpose for me.

It’s a bit of a leap of faith. Letting go of control isn’t easy, and I can’t say with certainty that this approach will be perfect. But I do know this: involving God in my goal-setting process feels right. It’s humbling and grounding to remember that His plans for me are far greater than anything I could come up with on my own.

This year, I want to be led, not just driven. I want my actions to align with God’s will so that I don’t miss what He has in store for me.

One scripture that perfectly sums up this mindset is:

“The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”Isaiah 58:11 (NIV)

If you’re looking for a fresh perspective on goal-setting, I’d encourage you to try this too. Take your plans, your dreams, and even your uncertainties to God. Leave some space for Him to write the story. You might be surprised at where He leads you.

Here’s to living intentionally and letting faith guide the way in 2025!
