Twinsies with a Side of Attitude: My Dramatic Adventure at Table Mountain, Cape Town

Published on 26 September 2024 at 11:42

When you think of Cape Town, two things probably come to mind: Table Mountain and... well, more Table Mountain. So, naturally, I had to see this iconic wonder on my first trip to South Africa. Plus, one of my best friends lives there, so it was the perfect excuse to finally reunite after years of daily WhatsApp convos but no face-to-face. I was super excited, obviously. But buckle up, because things didn't go exactly as planned.

Agbaya Fashion and Pre-Hike Drama

We were all set for our Table Mountain adventure and decided (in a moment of agbaya-level enthusiasm) to wear matching outfits. Yep, head-to-toe identical—even down to the shoes. Cute, right? WRONG. The morning of the trip, my bestie and I got into a huge fight. You know the kind—petty but fiery. And since we were already dressed, there was no time to change out of our matching 'twin' outfits. So, there we were, looking like we just stepped out of a friendship ad but throwing sharp side-eyes at each other all day.

The Silent Twins at Table Mountain

Imagine us: standing side by side in matching clothes, not speaking a word to each other, while our group excitedly snapped pictures of us as if we weren’t seconds away from throwing each other off the mountain. The photos? Hilarious (and yes, I still have them). The day was long, awkward, and full of silent glares. But Table Mountain? Absolutely breathtaking.

The views up there are insane. It’s like being on top of the world, with clouds gently grazing the mountaintop, the sun lighting up Cape Town below, and the ocean stretching out for miles. Honestly, it’s the kind of place that makes you think, “Wow, God really went all out with this one.” It’s no wonder it’s one of the Seven Wonders of Nature.

The Ultimate Make-Up: Beachside Feasts

Fast forward a few hours, and my friend (knowing my love language is food) took me to an amazing restaurant by the beach after our Table Mountain escapade. One bite of those beachside dishes, and our fight was basically forgotten. Food really does fix everything, doesn't it?

Takeaways: Go to Table Mountain, Just Maybe Skip the Matching Outfits

Moral of the story? Definitely visit Table Mountain if you’re ever in Cape Town. It’s truly a bucket list experience that’ll remind you of how small we are in the grand scheme of things. But maybe skip the matching outfits, especially if you’re prone to petty arguments with your travel buddy. And if you do fight? Find the nearest beach restaurant—Cape Town's food scene will heal your soul. Trust me.

So go on, book that ticket, and be sure to add Table Mountain to your itinerary. Just don’t forget to check your attitude at the base of the mountain... and maybe double-check your bestie’s mood too!
