As I was clearing out my phone, I stumbled upon some old pictures from two or three years back. In every one, I’m dressed up, laughing, and living my best life—out at fun places, feeling vibrant, free, and completely alive. My first thought was, “Oh, look at me! When mama was a rolling stone!” Then it hit me—when did I stop being that person?
I thought to myself, “Maybe I’ve just outgrown it. Maybe I’m too old for all that now.” But here’s the truth: you never outgrow happiness or fun. Life is so short, and we all need to make time for the things that bring us joy. Sure, we’re adulting, and let’s be honest—adulthood isn’t easy. We’re juggling responsibilities, sometimes feeling like we’re barely keeping up. But one thing I’ve realized is that we have to be intentional about happiness.
So here’s my message to you (and to myself): don’t let the ups and downs of life take away the things that bring you joy. Don’t let life or being too busy rob you of what keeps your soul alive. Do the things you love. Dress up, go out, laugh loud, and feel alive. Happiness isn’t something we outgrow or give up because we’re adults—it’s something we need to protect, nurture, and make time for.
Let’s find those little moments that remind us of who we are and keep our spirits young. After all, life is too precious not to live it fully.
